Dundee Area Business Association History

The Dundee Area Business Association was organized in 1999 under the direction of Sean McClellan, Ann Albright and Mike Neiman, local business owners. The intent of DABA was to bring together business and the community to meet the needs of the community with a prosperous business environment. Sean McClellan served as the first president. Other past presidents include Pete Vander Aa, Bill Knopp, Tim Stiff, and Shirley Massingill. The current President is Tim Stiff.

DABA goes beyond the village of Dundee and Dundee Township to include surrounding communities. The combined efforts of these communities contribute to the vitality and growth of the area. Membership is open to any business or organization in the Dundee area with an interest in enhancing the business goals of the Greater Dundee Area. The Board of Directors is composed of seven members elected from the membership and the immediate past president.

The Dundee Area Business Association produces and presents the Annual Mayfly Music Festival in Wolverine Park, the Annual Downtown Halloween Bash co-sponsored with The Independent Newspaper, sponsors and organizes the Annual Home for The Holidays Craft and Vendor Show, Parade and Community Tree Lighting ceremony. In 2011 the first Annual DABA 5K Scholarship Fun Run/Walk was conducted with proceeds going to DABA’s scholarship programs. DABA provides two scholarships each year, the Dundee Area Business Association and the Mayfly Music Festival Scholarship. DABA also contributes to various community organizations and their activities to ensure community growth and a high quality of live for our residents.
